Bollywood superstars Aamir Khan and Salman Khan recently appeared together on Twinkle Khanna and Kajol’s talk show “Two Much,” where they candidly discussed their evolving friendship and past misunderstandings. The conversation revealed surprising insights into their relationship during the filming of the cult classic “Andaz Apna Apna.”
Aamir’s Confession About Being Too Critical
Aamir Khan, known as Mr. Perfectionist, openly admitted to holding judgmental views about Salman Khan during their early collaboration. “Prior to that, I used to think, ‘He doesn’t arrive on time,’ and I faced a lot of issues during Andaz Apna Apna,” Aamir confessed. He acknowledged being overly critical, stating, “Back then, I was quite judgmental. I was very critical, thinking, ‘This isn’t right, that person isn’t right, this is wrong.'”
The “Laal Singh Chaddha” star revealed that his perspective underwent a significant transformation following his separation from first wife Reena Dutta. “It all started when I was going through my separation from Reena. You came over for dinner, and that’s when Salman and I truly connected,” he shared, crediting this personal crisis as a turning point in their friendship.
Salman’s Response and Work Schedule Reality
Salman Khan provided his side of the story, explaining the challenging work circumstances that led to the misunderstandings. “At that time, Mr. Aamir Khan would arrive on set at 7:00 am for a 9:00 am call time,” Salman humorously noted. He revealed juggling multiple film schedules simultaneously, working three shifts daily from 7 to 2, then 2 to 10, and finally 10 to 5.
“By the time I arrived, I was quite exhausted. He would continue with his rehearsals, practicing each scene several times. I would say, ‘Let me know when it’s finalized,'” Salman explained, highlighting how his packed schedule was misinterpreted as lack of commitment.
The candid conversation showcased how both actors have matured, with Aamir emphasizing his realization that “we are all human, we all make mistakes.”
