A 30-year-old male given Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin, administered by AIIMS Delhi, death toll cross 30,000-mark. 

India on Friday reported its biggest single-day spike with over 49,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases. After registering 49,311 new cases in the last 24 hours, India’s Coronavirus tally has risen to 12,87,945. The death toll in the country breached the 30,000 mark at 30,601, as per the data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. 

Covaxin’s first dose given to a 30-year-old administers AIIMS: 

In a big development against the coronavirus, AIIMS Delhi administered the first dose of Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin to a 30-year-old male. The subject will be given the second dose of the medicine after being under observation for two weeks. Bharat Biotech India (BBIL) in collaboration with the National Institute of Virology (NIV) has developed India’s COVID-19 vaccine candidate called Covaxin. 

The Home Ministry urges the Centre to invite COVID Warriors:

Due to the fresh spike in the number of Coronavirus cases, the Centre has asked all the states to stay away from organizing large gatherings, follow the social distancing norms strictly, and webcast the events happening on the Independence Day. The Home Ministry in an advisory said COVID warriors including Doctors, health, and sanitation workers should be recognized for their service of battling the pandemic by inviting them to the ceremony. It is rumored that those who have successfully recovered from the fatal illness might also be invited to the Independence Day ceremonies.

Centre to discuss Coronavirus rise with 8 states through a video conference:

The centre views the sudden rise in cases as a “cause of concern” and has scheduled to hold a video conference with eight states, to check the spread of the virus. Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Telangana, West Bengal, Odisha, Karnataka, Assam, and Uttar Pradesh will be the states from which health officials will discuss the rise with centre’s health officers.
