1500 daily wage workers’ accounts credited after
funds transferred by Actor Akshay Kumar.
Actor Akshay Kumar, who has
massively donated to various causes due to the novel Covid-19 pandemic, has
made a donation of 45 Lakhs to the Cine & TV Artists Association (CINTAA),
to help daily wage workers who are affected due to the Coronavirus
lockdown.
Senior joint secretary of
CINTAA, Amit Behl, in a statement said, “We are grateful to Akshay Kumar
for helping in such trying times. The initiative was taken up by executive
committee member and actor Ayub Khan. He roped in Jaaved Jaaferi to help
connect with Sajid Nadiadwala and Akshay Kumar.” Behl added how without
any delay, Akshay Kumar requested for the list of CINTAA’s members; he said,
“We have been receiving messages of gratitude from the 1,500
daily wage workers we helped.” The megastar and producer Sajid Nadiadwala
have directly transferred 3000 rupees into each member’s bank account.
The superstar didn’t stop at that; he also donated to support a campaign to provide sanitary pads to the female daily wage workers. The actor made a compelling mark in Indian films after he starred in R Balki’s film “Pad Man” which was a bio-drama on the man who started making pads and spread awareness throughout India about the importance of using proper sanitary pads. Citing hygiene concerns, Akshay announced the campaign on Twitter and urged people to donate for the cause as he pledged to help underprivileged women across Mumbai.
Akshay Kumar has made size-able donations during the pandemic, donating 25 crores to PM Cares, 3 crores to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and 2 crores to Mumbai Police Foundation to help them fight the Covid-19 virus.
