Sooryavanshi opts for a Diwali release while ‘’83’
will release on Christmas.
Two of the most awaited films
of the year, which were postponed indefinitely owing to the nation-wide
lockdown, caused by the global Coronaviruspandemic, have set their sights on a new release date in
2020 itself. Rohit Shetty’s cop-universe action film, ‘Sooryavanshi’ has finally got a new release date, the Akshay Kumar – Katrina Kaif starrer will release on Diwali in theaters. As
per the latest announcement made by various multiplex chains on their social
media platforms, Kabir Khan’s sports drama on India’s historic 1983 Cricket
World Cup win, featuring Ranveer Singh – Deepika Padukone, ‘’83’ will have a Christmas release.
Leading trade analyst and critic, Komal Nahta confirmed the news on his Twitter account. The tweet read,” Perhaps, the first happy news for cinemas in the last almost four months: Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi and Kabir Khan’s 83 to release this year Diwali and Christmas respectively… IN CINEMAS!”

releasing on OTT platforms between July and October, Akshay Kumar & Kiara Advani starrer ‘Laxmmi Bomb’, and Ajay Devgn’s ‘Bhuj – The pride of India’ will release on the digital platform.
Aamir Khan’s Lal Singh Chaddha
to be postponed?:
There was a huge demand for
releasing Sooryavanshi on the digital space, but Rohit Shetty adamantly refused
to release it there. The film was slated to release on the 24th of March before
a nation-wide lockdown was announced and the film was postponed indefinitely.
The hype and craze of the film is terrific and Shetty believes that the film
deserves a cinematic experience.
Meanwhile Ranveer Singh’s ‘‘83’
will release on Christmas and is gearing up for a clash with Aamir Khan’s film, ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’ – the official remake of ‘Forrest Gump’. But
sources suggest that Aamir’s film will be pushed to a 2021 release.
The above announcements have
still not come from the actors, producers, or the directors of these films.
