CSK’s Aman Khan Sets Unwanted List A Record with 123 Runs

Chennai Super Kings’ newly acquired pace-bowling all-rounder Aman Khan set an unwanted record during the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 on December 29. The Puducherry captain conceded 123 runs in his full quota of 10 overs against Jharkhand, establishing the highest runs given away by any bowler in List A cricket history. This surpassed the previous record of 116 runs in nine overs, set by Arunachal Pradesh’s Mibom Mosu against Bihar.

Anukul Roy’s Batting Onslaught

Jharkhand’s in-form all-rounder Anukul Roy orchestrated the batting carnage against Khan, playing a blistering knock that left the CSK bowler’s figures scarred. Roy scored 59 runs off just 17 deliveries against Khan, striking seven sixes in his onslaught. The standout moment came in the final over when Roy hammered Khan for 32 runs, demonstrating the bowler’s inability to contain the aggressive batting. Roy remained unbeaten on 98 off 53 balls, featuring eight sixes and seven fours. Kumar Kushagra also punished Khan, scoring 33 runs from 21 deliveries.

Khan’s Disappointing IPL Journey

The 29-year-old Aman Khan was recently acquired by CSK for ₹40 lakh in the IPL 2026 mini-auction, raising hopes for a fresh start. However, his IPL career has been marked by underperformance and limited opportunities. Playing for Kolkata Knight Riders in 2022, Khan managed just one appearance. Delhi Capitals gave him an extended run in IPL 2023 across 11 matches, but he managed only 110 runs at an average of 13.75. His sole half-century came against Gujarat Titans, a 44-ball 51. Despite CSK’s investment in his potential, Khan will need to significantly improve his performance to justify the franchise’s faith in him.

Jharkhand posted 368/7 in their innings, while Puducherry were restricted to 235 in 41.4 overs, losing by 133 runs.
