Veteran India legspinner Amit Mishra has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket, bringing an end to a remarkable 25-year journey in the sport. The 42-year-old Haryana cricketer made the announcement on Thursday through social media, expressing deep gratitude for his cricketing journey.

International Career Highlights

Mishra represented India in 68 international matches across all formats, claiming 156 wickets. His impressive tally includes performances in 22 Tests, 36 ODIs, and 10 T20 internationals. The classical leg-break bowler made a memorable Test debut against Australia in 2008, taking a five-wicket haul in the first innings and adding two more wickets in the second.

Emotional Farewell Message

In his retirement announcement, Mishra described cricket as his “first love, teacher, and greatest source of joy.” He thanked the BCCI, Haryana Cricket Association, coaches, support staff, and fans for their unwavering support throughout his career. Though he last played for India in 2017, Mishra continued participating in the IPL until the 2024 edition, maintaining his connection with competitive cricket until the very end.
