BCCI Scraps IPL 2026 Opening Ceremony to Honor Chinnaswamy Stampede Victims

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially cancelled the IPL 2026 opening ceremony out of respect for the 11 fans who tragically lost their lives in a stampede outside M. This is not the first time IPL has scrapped its opening ceremony. A similar decision was made in 2019 following the Pulwama terror attack, which claimed 40 CRPF personnel.
