Bengaluru will observe a strict 7-day lockdown as India’s Coronavirus remained above 26,000 for a fourth consecutive day; New restrictions in parts of Jammu and Kashmir.

India on Monday reported another record single-day spike in COVID-19 numbers with 28,701 cases registered in the last 24 hours. This is the fourth consecutive day of daily cases counts exceeding the 26,000-mark. This new record has raised the Coronavirus count in the nation to over 8.7 lakh. Even the active number of cases in the country has crossed the 3-lakh-mark. A total of 500 deaths were reported which pushed the death toll to 23,174 as per the data released by the Union Health Ministry.

Opposition urges the Karnataka government for a state-wide lockdown:

 Bengaluru will be going under a 7-day lockdown from Tuesday; after cases in the city surged to over 18,000 after more than 1500 new cases were reported on consecutive days in the Silicon Valley city of India. The opposition parties in the state have urged the government to put the whole state under complete lockdown. JD(S) patriarch H D Deve Gowda said,” I urge the government through media to enforce lockdown in the entire state.”

Kashmir under strict restrictions again:

 Meanwhile, restrictions were re-imposed in parts of Jammu & Kashmir on Monday. After a sudden surge of Coronavirus cases in the valley last week, the authorities sealed most marketplaces and roads, and only essential services workers and medical emergency personnel are allowed to move in those parts.

Out of the 357 fresh Coronavirus infections reported in J&K, 295 were reported from Kashmir and 62 from the Jammu area. Srinagar district reported fresh 97 new infections and so the authorities believed to re-impose the restrictions in the Union Territory.
