Bhim Army chief Chandra Shekhar Aazad requested the resignation of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday, a day after surviving an assassination attempt, stating that the CM is protecting criminals.
“I fought for my life, but the criminals are still at large.” This is impossible to accomplish without the protection of those in power. I feel this is a case of gross negligence on the part of the government. “The fact that the Chief Minister has not said anything shows that he is protecting criminals,” the Bhim army chief Chandra Shekhar Aazad told ANI.
In a tweet, he stated, “My 56-inch chest is real, not fake.” The fatal attack on me is a failing of the government since the government is responsible for protecting the state’s citizens, and I am also a responsible citizen.”
“Earlier, these people used to misuse ED, CBI, and Income Tax officials for this, then they started getting fake police encounters done, and now government-backed criminals have started using guns and bullets to eliminate opposition leaders,” he claimed.
He believes the chief minister should accept moral responsibility for protecting criminals and resign immediately.
The Bhim army commander was released today from Saharanpur’s SBD Hospital, where he had been hospitalised following an attack on his convoy.
Unidentified assailants opened fire on Aazad’s automobile in Saharanpur’s Deoband on Wednesday, where he attended a ritual at a supporter’s home.
Later, in a video message, Aazad urged his followers to remain calm and stated that he would continue to fight by the Constitution.
The vehicle used in the assassination attempt was recovered in Miragpur village late Wednesday night, and police registered an FIR at the Deoband police station on Thursday based on the accusation of Aazad’s aide Manish Kumar.
Wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik visited Aazad in the hospital and inquired about his condition on Thursday. Punia ordered that those responsible for the attack be apprehended immediately.
In Lucknow, Bhim Army activists handed a memorandum addressed to the governor seeking Z-plus protection for Aazad to a government official.
