On Saturday, BMW Motorrad introduced the much-awaited Indian market R 18 cruiser starting at 18.90 lakh. Two models of the motorcycle introduced:

Bookings have already started for the new R 18, and the bike can be ordered via the BMW Motorrad dealer network as a fully built-up unit (CBU).

The New BMW R 18 and R 18 Cruiser:

A newly built, air / oil-cooled two-cylinder boxer engine sits at the heart of the R 18 cruiser. According to BMW, this is the company’s one of the most potent boxer engine in series output.

This is a 1,802 cc mega engine with a 107.1 mm bore and a stroke of 100 mm. It was optimised to produce a maximum power output of 91 hp at 4,750 rpm which is accompanied by 158 Nm at 3,000 rpm.

The engine coupled with a constant 6-speed mesh transmission and a single-disk dry clutch transmits the torque to the transmission, as per BMW.

An exclusive paint and chrome job is present in the ‘First Edition’ of the R 18 cruiser. Blackstorm metallic paintwork with intricate pinstripes in light white, Headlight Pro, a seat badge, Adaptive Headlight, Daytime Riding Light First Edition Pack, and a ‘First Edition’ chrome clasp on the side cover is the notable highlights of this version.

Besides, there is also a ‘Welcome Box’ First Edition that includes exclusive insignia, lifestyle accessories, collectables, and a coveted book about the brand’s nearly 100-year history.

The bike gave three standard modes of riding – ‘Rain,’ ‘Roll’ and ‘Rock.’

Automatic Stability Control, Dynamic Engine Brake Control, Hill Start Control, and Keyless Ride system are included in the list of its standard features, replacing the traditional ignition steering lock.

“The BMW R 18 offers unadulterated riding fun with BMW’s most significant boxer engine ever built. With the appearance, attitude, and promise of the cruiser in equal measure, riders are in for a full treat.

They know when you’re travelling, emotion matters and the all-new BMW R 18 is set to win your soul and heart, “said Vikram Pawah, President of BMW Group India.
