Due to her dusky skin, Chitrangada Singh opened up about the bigotry she faced. She admitted that as she missed out on modelling jobs, she not only faced prejudices growing up but also professionally.
Chitrangada’s Instagram Story:
Chitrangda put up an Instagram story last month, in which she said she was ‘happy and brown.’ In a recent interview, she said that while there is a great deal of prejudice based on skin color,’ not everybody sets out looking for fair-skinned people.’
Chitrangada to Bombay Times:
Chitrangada told the Bombay Times, “I know the feeling of living life as a girl with a dusky appearance.” This is not something that would be said directly to your face by people.
You can feel it. I’ve been through the prejudices, particularly when growing up in the north.” She stayed in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi before she came to Mumbai.”

Chitrangada also mentioned how, because of her skin colour, she missed out on jobs. “On modelling jobs, I missed out. I was told the reason when I missed out on one ad in the initial days of my career, as it came down to choosing between two individuals for the part.
Fortunately, Gulzar Saab, who got me on board for his music video, saw the audition I did for a product. I found that not everyone here goes out searching for white-skinned individuals,’ she said.
