Dhruv Rathee to Release Critical Video on Dhurandhar Film

Political commentator and content creator Dhruv Rathee has reignited his campaign against the blockbuster spy thriller Dhurandhar, promising to release a video that will expose what he calls the film’s propagandistic nature. Through a cryptic X post on Saturday, Rathee announced that a single YouTube video would be sufficient to “destroy” the ₹300 crore film, hinting at a major revelation that would trigger significant backlash.

Rathee’s Escalating Criticism Campaign

The content creator’s latest attack marks an intensification of his previous criticism directed at filmmaker Aditya Dhar. Since the film’s trailer release in November, Rathee has consistently called out the movie for its graphic violence and gore sequences. In earlier statements, he compared the trailer’s torture scenes to “ISIS beheadings,” arguing that such content desensitizes audiences, particularly young viewers, to extreme brutality while glorifying unethical entertainment practices.

Film Success Amid Controversy

Despite the mounting criticism, Dhurandhar has achieved unprecedented box office success. Starring Ranveer Singh as an undercover Indian spy operating in Pakistan’s Lyari district, the film has crossed ₹480 crore at the domestic box office and ₹740 crore worldwide, making it India’s highest-grossing film of the year. The spy thriller follows Singh’s character as he infiltrates criminal gangs to dismantle their connections with Pakistan’s terror networks.

The film features a strong ensemble cast including Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, and Sanjay Dutt. While audiences have praised the performances and technical execution, critics have raised concerns about the film’s political messaging, with even actor Hrithik Roshan noting disagreement with its ideological stance. A sequel is scheduled for March 2026.
