Food & Education Highlighted at Festival of Australia

The Festival of Australia, held in the city, marked a unique celebration that showcased both Australia’s world-class educational opportunities and its premium food and beverage products. Organized by The Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), the second phase of the festival offered Indian students and their families an exceptional chance to interact directly with representatives from Australian universities. It provided a platform for exploring educational programs designed to support students’ academic and career aspirations.

Vik Singh, Trade and Investment Commissioner of Austrade, highlighted the growing presence of Indian students in Australia, with approximately 1.30 lakh students currently enrolled in Australian institutions. He shared that the number is expected to double by next year, underscoring the increasing appeal of Australian education. Singh emphasized that Australia offers a diverse range of world-class institutions, offering programs in fields such as psychology, design, engineering, technology, and management.

A key highlight of studying in Australia is the 6-year post-study work visa, which allows graduates to gain valuable professional experience. This experience can also contribute to their eligibility for permanent residency in the country. Singh also mentioned that Australian universities offer scholarships to international students, with two major intakes each year in July and February, giving students flexibility in planning their education abroad.

Alongside the educational opportunities, the festival also spotlighted Australia’s premium food and beverage sector, giving attendees a taste of the country’s culinary offerings. This combination of education and food not only attracted students but also offered valuable insights into the business potential of Australia’s thriving food industry. The event successfully bridged the gap between education and business, fostering greater engagement between India and Australia.
