The global death toll due to the virus rose to more than 617,000 deaths; India’s COVID-19 tally reaches 11,82,915.

As per the Reuters tally, the number of coronavirus infections in the world has breached the 15 million mark on Wednesday, The novel COVID-19 virus has infected a total of 15,0009,213 people globally which is at least triple the number of severe influenza infections recorded annually. The United States continues to remain the worst-affected country in the world, followed by Brazil and India. The pandemic has claimed over 617,000 patients’ lives to date.

India reports 30,000 plus COVID-19 cases for a seventh consecutive day: 

The third worst-affected COVID-19 country, India, recorded fresh 37,724 infections on Wednesday which raised the nation’s Coronavirus tally to 11,82,915. This is the seventh consecutive day with cases surging past the 30,000-mark. In the last 24 hours, India also reported 648 deaths which increased the causalities in the country to 28,732, as per the data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. India’s testing of the Coronavirus has also increased with over 12 million tests being conducted in the country revealed US President Donald Trump. The number of recovered patients stands at 753,050 and the active number of coronavirus infections count rose to 411,133. 

Plasma therapy the way forward in curing patients? 

Indian Council of Medical Research’s (ICMR) trial on plasma therapy found blood transfusion from recovered patients to those with moderate and early symptoms of the coronavirus to be effective. As per a serological survey carried out by the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), in New Delhi, to assess the exposure of the deadly virus in the population showed over 20 percent prevalence of Coronavirus in eight of the eleven districts. It further suggested that over 77 percent of people were vulnerable to the fatal virus.
