India reports 14,933 new cases, stands at 440,215
cases and 14,011 deaths.
The global tally of Covid-19 cases has breached the 9-million mark, taking
the Coronavirus tally to over 9.1 million and the total number of
deaths in the world to over 472,000.
The World Health
Organization revealed
that the recent biggest spike in the number of infections in major countries
hints at the virus nearing its peak. The WHO chief also said that politicizing the global
pandemic will only hamper the progress the world makes and has urged global
leaders to unite in solidarity to fight the fatal virus.
India’s tally up-to 440,215 and
14,011 deaths:
India on Tuesday, reported 14,933 fresh Covid-19 infections and 312 deaths as the nation’s tally rose to 440,215 cases and death toll stood at 14,011 as per the Union Health Ministry’s data. Around 248,190 patients have recovered from the disease while the number of active cases went up-to 178,014. India’s recovery rate increased to 56.38 percent.
Delhi overtakes Tamil Nadu:
Delhi’s Coronavirus tally rose
to 62,655 infections as it became the second worst affected state in India. Delhi overtook Tamil Nadu’s tally which stood at 62,087. The recent spike in
Delhi has had the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issue new set of guidelines
specifically for Delhi and also instructed the Delhi government to re-establish
the containment zones. Delhi is also in line to overtake Mumbai’s coronavirus
tally. Maharashtra remains the worst affected state in the
country with 135,796 cases.
