Widespread Showers, Gusty Winds Expected Across North, South Gujarat and Saurashtra-Kutch
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a comprehensive weather forecast for Gujarat weather, predicting light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across several districts from May 3 to May 9, 2025. The expected weather activity may bring temporary relief from the heat and impact daily life in various regions.
May 3: Initial Showers in North Gujarat and Kutch
Light thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (30–40 kmph) are expected at isolated locations in Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, and Kutch.

May 4: Expanding Activity in Central and Saurashtra Regions
Weather conditions will intensify across more districts. Isolated thunderstorms are likely in Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Vadodara, and Chhota Udepur. In Saurashtra-Kutch, showers may affect Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, Diu, and Kutch.
May 5: Thunderstorms in South Gujarat and Beyond
All districts of South Gujarat, including Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Tapi, Valsad, Navsari, Dangs, and the union territories of Daman and Dadra & Nagar Haveli, may witness thunderstorms. Similar conditions are forecast for parts of North Gujarat and Saurashtra.
May 6: Stronger Winds and Broader Coverage
Isolated thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds reaching 40–50 kmph are expected across South Gujarat, North Gujarat, and the Saurashtra-Kutch region, including major cities like Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Bhavnagar, and Dwarka.
May 7–8: Continued Instability
The IMD warns of continued thunderstorm activity in Banaskantha, Anand, Vadodara, Surat, and coastal regions including Amreli, Kutch, and Diu. On May 8, the final day of the forecast, Surendranagar, Morbi, and Botad are also likely to experience showers.
Temperature Outlook
No major change in maximum temperatures is expected in the next 24 hours. A 2–4°C drop is likely afterward due to the rainfall activity.
