Hana Kimura was one of the six residents in the
internationally popular Netflix show ‘Terrace House’, Japan and wrestling
community mourn her demise.
A 22 year old, professional
wrestler and a member of the cast in the popular Netflix reality show –
‘Terrace House’ passed away on 23rd May 2020. The reason of death is still
unclear but is hugely suspected to be suicide because of cyber-bullying. Kimura
was affiliated to Stardom Wrestling, a pro wrestling institution who confirmed
Hana Kimura’s death, on Saturday. Kimura was also one of the six residents in
Netlfix’s Japanese reality show ‘Terrace House’ that captures the lives of 6
young men and women living together. The filming of the show was suspended in
April with concerns over the spread of the Coronavirus.
Kimura was totally different on
the show as compared to her wrestling persona; she was shy and a fan favourite
on the show with her signature pink hair. Fans from all over the world
expressed their concerns on cyber-bullying and paid tributes to her. Before her
death, Kimura posted a series of cryptic posts on her social media, implying she
was cyber-bullied. The last Instagram post by her was a picture of Kimura with
her cat, with the caption “Goodbye”. Kimura also sent messages saying
“I don’t want to be a human anymore. It was a life I wanted to be loved.
Thank you, everyone, I love you, Bye.” on her Twitter with posting
self-harm images.
Kimura was the subject of
social media trolls and a frequent receiver of mean tweets from her critics.
Many celebrity wrestlers conveyed their prayers and shock on their social media
accounts. Wrestling company AEW’s PPV – Double or Nothing, last night, also
paid a tribute to the Japanese wrestler.
Many fans and celebrities have
urged social media users to not resort to cyber-bullying as it can affect you
deeply.
