Harbhajan Singh considers veteran India batter “as young as Ishan”
Harbhajan Singh praised this veteran Indian batter, saying he is “as young as Ishan Kishan.”
Shikhar Dhawan was one of the few brilliant spots in India’s disappointing one-day international series loss in South Africa last week. Dhawan scored 79, 29, and 61 runs in his return to the Indian team, finishing as the team’s highest scorer in the 3-match series with 169 runs. Dhawan scored at a strike rate of 86.66 and an average of 56.33. However, he could not prevent South Africa from sweeping the series 3-0.
According to Indian spin legend Harbhajan Singh, Dhawan’s high fitness levels indicate that he should remain a member of the national team setup in the future.
“I was overjoyed when Shikhar Dhawan returned. The reason for this is that he is a seasoned player, and if you compare him to other players while claiming that the other players are young, who is batting at a level that Shikhar Dhawan isn’t? “I am overjoyed to see Shikhar Dhawan back,” Harbhajan said to Sports Tak.
“As soon like he got back, he was in his fifties.” India lost the games, but he did his job. I’m not sure why people look at the ages of some players but not others.
“There were some players who were 38, 39, 40 years old and playing in the World Cup,” he added.
“I believe Shikhar Dhawan, at 37 years (36 years), is as young as (Ishan) Kishan. His physical condition is excellent. If you say that he can’t make a comeback at 37 years old, I think you might be wrong. I’m thrilled that he made a comeback and demonstrated how much he still has in him.”
