Director Vipul Amrutlal Shah shared memories of the shoot when London Dreams ended 11 years after its release. He remembered how, even after losing his dogs-Myson and MyJaan-Salman Khan managed to shoot critical concert scenes from the film.
Vipul on London Dreams shoot:
“Speaking of one of the most memorable moments of the London Dreams shoot, Vipul said,” We had two days of filming musical concert scenes, one month apart from each other, according to the timetable, and both times, Salman lost his pets.
He continued to shoot, and after packing up at 6 or 7 in the morning, after missing the dogs that were so close to him, he went from Karjat to Mumbai, picked up his puppy, finished the funeral process at his farmhouse, and reported back to the shooting at 4 pm in the evening and continued to shoot again.
Shoot constant for 48 Hours:
Since we were shooting concerts, and the shooting days were very costly, Salman did not want to cancel those days.
I was shocked at Salman’s professional and human mindset for those days, overlooking his own suffering and looking at all of the hard work the unit was doing and reporting back on the sets and shooting continuously for 48 hours without sleeping, he said.
Ajay Devgn also in London Dreams:
Ajay Devgn was also featured in London Dreams, and Vipul said he was warned against filming two superstars with him. There were no ego clashes, though, and the encounter proved to be quite smooth.
Vipul enjoyed shooting a lot:
The shooting, to my surprise, was like a picnic. I don’t think I’ve laughed at any set so much as I’ve laughed at the London Dreams sets since Salman used to crack jokes all the time, and Ajay had this incredible knack of pulling pranks from nowhere at the same time.
The memory of working with such two superstars will forever be unique because from day one they made me feel at home, gave me my full independence, and collaborated with me on my vision of how I decided to shoot and make the film,’ said Vipul.
The story of London Dreams:
London Dreams tells the story of Arjun (Ajay) and Mannu (Salman), childhood friends. Arjun aspires to compete to win back a family legacy at a crowded Wembley Stadium-his grandfather lost his voice years ago while playing at the prestigious venue.
Mannu joins Arjun’s band, but the audience becomes more popular. Arjun grows jealous and, before their eventual reunion, drives Mannu into a downward spiral of sex and drugs.
London Dreams, which starred Asin in a leading role as well, marked Aditya Roy Kapur’s Bollywood debut. In pivotal roles, the film even had Rannvijay Singha and Om Puri.
