Fresh 65,002 Coronavirus cases along with 996 deaths reported in the country; PM Modi hails COVID warriors in his Independence Day speech.

Till 9 am Saturday, India registered a fresh spike of 65,002 COVID-19 infections which has led to breaching of the 25-lakh mark in the number of cases. 145 days have passed since imposing the nationwide lockdown, and today India’s coronavirus tally has reached 25,26,192. In the last 24 hours, India reported 996 new fatalities, which took the nation’s death toll to 49,036. AS per the latest data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of active infections stood at 668,220, while the tally of recovered patients rose to 18,08,937. This meant that the recovery rate in the country improved to 71.60 percent.

PM Modi lauds COVID warriors in his speech on 74th Independence Day:

On Saturday, India celebrates its 74th Independence Day, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his traditional speech from the Red Fort, and hailed the COVID warriors for their will and efforts to combat against the novel Coronavirus. PM Modi also revealed that India is testing for three different coronavirus vaccines in the country. He launched the National Digital Health Mission on the 74th Independence Day, which will give one health card to one person, through which they can take a doctor’s appointment, can check their health, etc. Maharashtra remained the worst-affected COVID-19 state with a tally of over 5.7 lakh infections. Tamil Nadu is second with more than 3.2 lakh cases, followed by Andhra Pradesh comprising around 2.7 lakh cases.

Global Coronavirus infections have crossed 21.2 million with more than 765,000 patients dying.
