India reported 69,239 new Coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours; Film shoots permitted to resume with contact minimization.

India till Sunday 9 am, reported fresh 69,239 COVID-19 infections which meant that the country’s tally of coronavirus cases breached the 3-million mark, with total infections above 30.44 lakhs. India has reported the highest daily numbers in the world for the last 18 days. It took 15 days for infections in the country to reach 3 million from 2 million. The top three worst-affected states of India are Maharashtra with 657,450, Tamil Nadu at 373,410, and Andhra Pradesh with 345,216 infections. 

Death toll crosses 56,000; Recovery rate rises to 74.89 percent. 

Daily deaths in India remained above 900 with new 912 causalities, taking the death toll to 56,706. As per the latest data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare 22,80,567 patients have recovered from the fatal virus, with the number of active coronavirus cases rising to 707,668. The recovery rate continued to rise and now stands at 74.89 percent. 

Film shoots given the nod to resume across the country:

Minister of Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar on Sunday announced allowing films and tv shoots to resume In full capacity across the country, with contact minimization. SOP for resuming shootings in the media industry was also released by the Centre today. Javadekar said,” The shooting of films and TV serials can be resumed now while following the norms of social distancing and wearing of masks except for the people who are being recorded on camera. ‘Contact Minimization’ is at the core of the SOP.” 

Globally over 23.1 million people have been infected with the coronavirus, and more than 803,000 people succumbed to death due to the deadly disease.
