India reports fresh Coronavirus cases over 49,000 and 708 deaths; Delhi CM Kejriwal launches a portal that connects job seekers with employers.

On Monday, India reported fresh 49,931 COVID-19 infections in the last 24 hours, which took the coronavirus tally in the country to 14,35,453 cases. This is the fourth consecutive day of cases being more than the 48,000-mark in the nation. This is India’s highest single-day tally in registering the number of cases. The death toll in the country rose to 32,771 deaths after a surge of 708 deaths in the last 24 hours. As per the data released by the Health and Family Welfare Ministry, 485,114 cases are still active in the country, whereas the total number of cured and discharged patients’ tally rose to 917,568. This has been the deadliest week of the pandemic in India so far, with total cases growing at 28% and the death toll jumped by 19%.

Arvind Kejriwal starts a portal to boost employment in Delhi:

On Monday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced a portal to connect job seekers with employers in the national capital. Kejriwal also said that Delhi has seen a marked improvement and that not putting the state in another lockdown is a matter of pride. The AAP chief also said that the containment of virus in Delhi will be looked at and followed by other states and even countries. 

PM Modi to launch high testing facilitates:

PM Narendra Modi will today launch “high throughput” COVID-19 testing facilities in Mumbai, Noida, and Kolkata which will boost the testing capacity to over 10,000 samples per day, revealed the Prime Minister’s Office’s statement. The virtual event launch will be attended by Uddhav Thackeray, Mamata Banerjee, and Yogi Adityanath. 

Globally, over 16.3 million people have been infected with Coronavirus, with more than 649,000 people dying.
