Jai Ram Thakur, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, will remain: Nadda

On Sunday, BJP President J P Nadda stated that the party would not replace Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur. The upcoming state Assembly elections will be held under his leadership. Nadda made the statement in response to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia’s claim. That Union minister Anurag Thakur will succeed Jai Ram Thakur as state chief minister.

Jai Ram Thakur is working and will continue to do so, Nadda told reporters. He will not be replaced. Also the BJP will run for office in the Assembly elections under his leadership.

He claimed that the BJP used to contest only 23 of the 117 Assembly seats in Punjab. As a junior alliance partner but contested 68 seats as a senior alliance partner in the recent elections. As a result, he believes that the BJP will emerge as a significant ideological alternative in Punjab in the coming elections. Himachal Pradesh’s Assembly elections are schedule for later this year.

Previously, elections were always a bipartisan contest between the Congress and the BJP. But the Aam Aadmi Party is attempting to gain a foothold in the state this time. The AAP swept to power in Punjab in the recently concluded Assembly elections.
