He will be accompanied by his wife Usha and their three children—Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel. The itinerary reflects both diplomatic engagements and cultural immersion, showcasing the growing warmth between the two nations.

Before arriving in India, Vance will make an official stop in Italy, where he is expected to meet with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin. These meetings are part of broader efforts to strengthen transatlantic ties between the US and Europe.

Upon his arrival in India, JD Vance will visit New Delhi for a one-on-one meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The meeting is expected to focus on trade negotiations, bilateral strategic cooperation, and regional security matters. Vance’s visit follows a previous meeting between the Vance family and PM Modi in France earlier this year.

In February, during a diplomatic visit to France, Prime Minister Modi met with the Vance family and presented gifts to the Vice President’s children. Modi gifted a wooden railway toy set to Vivek Vance, a jigsaw puzzle featuring Indian folk art to Ewan, and an eco-friendly wooden alphabet set to Mirabel. JD Vance later described Modi as “gracious and kind,” adding, “The kids really enjoyed the gifts. I’m grateful to him for the wonderful conversation.”

Following the formal engagements in New Delhi, the Vice President and his family will travel to Jaipur and Agra. These cultural visits are expected to include iconic landmarks such as the Hawa Mahal, Amber Fort, and the Taj Mahal, symbolizing the deepening people-to-people ties between the two democracies.

The visit also takes place against the backdrop of significant trade negotiations between the two countries. In February, India and the United States agreed to pursue the first leg of a broader trade pact, with the goal of finalizing it by the end of the year. According to a Reuters article published last week, both sides have finalized the terms of reference for the initial phase of the trade deal. An Indian official expressed optimism, noting that a “win-win” outcome could be achieved within the next 90 days.
