The Diplomat star wants to work with his Desi Boyz partner in a comedy film.
Bollywood star John Abraham has expressed his eagerness to dive back into the world of comedy, particularly with his close friend and fellow actor Akshay Kumar. The two have previously collaborated on successful comedy films such as Garam Masala, Desi Boyz, and Housefull 2, and now Abraham is looking forward to reuniting with Kumar for another comedic venture.
In an interview with PTI, the 52-year-old actor shared his excitement about exploring the genre of comedy again. He emphasized the importance of making films that not only entertain but also leave a lasting impact on audiences. “I’m exploring doing something funny. You need to make people laugh and enjoy, not just without any meaning, but to get something out of it,” Abraham said. He specifically mentioned Garam Masala as a memorable project that holds a special place in his heart. “Films like that make a difference, and that’s what I’m looking for,” he added, hinting at his search for scripts that can bring both humor and depth to the screen.
Abraham revealed that he and Akshay Kumar have been in talks about reuniting for a new project. “We are having conversations. Akshay and I are having conversations. It will be a surprise if something happens. But we’re looking at an excuse to work together again because Akshay and I feed off each other’s energy,” he said. Their dynamic has always been a hit with fans, and Abraham expressed his desire to find the right opportunity to collaborate once more.
In addition to his plans with Kumar, Abraham also shared his interest in working with Shivam Nair, the director of his recent hit The Diplomat. He praised Nair’s unique comedic sensibility and expressed his desire to be directed by him in a comedy film. “I love comedy. This man (Nair) has got a really funny bone. I’ve told him, ‘Shivam, let’s make it,’ because his sense of slapstick and humor is something that you will laugh till you drop,” Abraham said. He eagerly awaits Nair to write a comedy script that will showcase his talent for humor.
Abraham is currently enjoying the success of his latest film, The Diplomat, which was released on March 14, 2024. The film, inspired by true events, features Abraham in the role of JP Singh, an Indian diplomat who rescues an Indian woman, Uzma (played by Sadia Khateeb), from Pakistan. The film has garnered attention for its gripping storyline and Abraham’s performance, but the actor remains excited about his future comedic endeavors.
