KBC 17: Fifth Grader Loses Rs 25,000 Due to Overconfidence

In a recent episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 17, fifth-standard student Ishit Bhatt from Gandhinagar, Gujarat, left the hot seat empty-handed after an incorrect answer cost him his entire winnings. The young contestant’s journey ended abruptly when he failed to answer a question about the Valmiki Ramayana.

Bhatt had impressed host Amitabh Bachchan and viewers with his lightning-fast responses throughout the game. He notably answered questions before the host could even finish reading all the options, showcasing remarkable confidence and preparation for someone his age.

The Critical Question That Changed Everything

The turning point came when Bhatt faced a Rs 25,000 question: “What is the name of the first kanda of the Valmiki Ramayana?” The options included Bala Kanda, Ayodhya Kanda, Kishkinda Kand, and Yuddh Kanda. Despite his earlier success, Bhatt answered incorrectly, resulting in his immediate exit from the show without any prize money.

Big B’s Message on Overconfidence

Following the contestant’s departure, Amitabh Bachchan shared his observations about young participants. He remarked, “Kabhi kabhi bachhe over confidence me galti kar dete hai” (Sometimes children make mistakes due to overconfidence), highlighting the lesson in Bhatt’s experience.

While Bhatt’s strategy of quick responses demonstrated his knowledge and boldness, it also underscored the importance of careful deliberation, especially on high-stakes questions. The audience and production team remained supportive despite the disappointing outcome, encouraging the young contestant for his commendable effort and participation in the popular quiz show.
