Kohli and Sharma Set to Tour Bangladesh in August 2026

The Bangladesh Cricket Board has officially announced India’s full white-ball tour scheduled for August-September 2026. Star players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been confirmed to participate in the ODI series as they prepare for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2027. The tour will mark India’s return to Bangladesh following the postponement of a similar series in 2025 due to political instability in the country.

Complete Series Schedule Announced

The Indian team will arrive in Bangladesh on August 28, 2026. The three-match ODI series is scheduled for September 1, 3, and 6, while the five-match T20I series will take place on September 9, 12, and 13. The Bangladesh Cricket Board stated that this comprehensive itinerary will provide supporters across the country the opportunity to watch top-level international cricket at home. Match venues will be announced in due course.

Tour Amid Ongoing Controversies

The tour announcement comes amid significant controversy surrounding Kolkata Knight Riders’ Rs 9.2 crore acquisition of Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman during the IPL 2026 auction. The signing has sparked backlash following recent communal violence in Bangladesh. Multiple calls have been made to boycott the team, with criticism directed at owner Shah Rukh Khan. Despite these tensions, the cricket boards have proceeded with confirming the bilateral series, emphasizing the importance of international sporting engagements between the two nations.
