Look what all the cricketers said about Suryakumar Yadav’s inning

Key takeaways:

  • India beat Sri Lanka in the third T20I to win the series.
  • Suryakumar Yadav was the Player of the Match for his excellent century.

Team India registered a dominating victory over Sri Lanka in the crucial third and the last T20 International (T20I) to seal the three-match series 2-1 on Saturday.

Suryakumar Yadav was the evening star for the hosts as he continued his excellent run with the bat, hitting his third T20I ton to light up the Saurashtra Cricket Stadium in Rajkot. Arriving at no.4, the right-handed batsman reached the three-figure mark off only 45 balls with the help of 6 fours and eight huge sixes.

Suryakumar even became the first non-opener to hit three T20I tons and the second-fastest centurion for India after Rohit Sharma, who smashed a 35-ball century in 2017 against the same rival in Indore.

Surya showcased a vast collection of scintillating smashes taking all the Lankan bowlers to the cleaners. The India vice-captain finished his fifty off only 26 balls and then took just 19 balls to reach the 100-run spot as the world’s number one batsman stayed undefeated on 112 from 51 balls. Besides SKY, opener Shubman Gill chipped in with a 36-ball 46-run score.

Virat Kohli’s reaction to SKY’s knock:

Virat Kohli might not be in the team for the T20I series between India and Sri Lanka, but he stays the number one cheerleader of the Indian squad players. As has been the case for the previous few months, Kohli was among the first to praise Suryakumar Yadav after the Indian stand-in vice-captain scored the third T20I of his career.

Kohli took to his Instagram handle and shared a story honouring Suryakumar with some ‘fire emoticons.’ This is not the first time the Indian batting icon has lauded Suryakumar on social media. He did the same when Suryakumar reached his century against New Zealand in November.
