Modi Tops Global Leadership Rankings with 68% Approval Rating in 2026

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has claimed the top spot on Morning Consult’s Global Leader Approval Rating Tracker, recording an impressive 68% approval rating based on data collected between March 2–8, 2026. The US-based analytics firm measures domestic popularity and international recognition across democratic nations, and Modi’s score places him comfortably ahead of every other world leader currently tracked.

How Other World Leaders Compare

Switzerland’s Guy Parmelin and South Korea’s Lee Jae-myung share second place with 62% approval ratings each. Further down the rankings, US President Donald Trump holds 39%, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer trails at 24%, and French President Emmanuel Macron sits near the bottom with just 17% approval and a steep 75% disapproval rating. Modi’s disapproval rating, by contrast, stands at only 26% — remarkably low by global standards.

This is not the first time Modi has dominated these rankings. A July 2025 assessment placed him first with a 75% approval rating, with Lee Jae-myung and Argentina’s Javier Milei following behind. Trump ranked eighth in that earlier survey with 44%.

A Historic Milestone in Indian Politics

Beyond the global rankings, Modi’s tenure itself has reached a landmark moment. Now in his third consecutive term since May 2024, he has completed 4,079 days in office, surpassing Indira Gandhi to become India’s second-longest continuously serving Prime Minister. Only Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s founding Prime Minister, has served longer without interruption.

Modi’s sustained popularity both at home and abroad continues to make him a dominant figure on the world stage.
