SIT Exposes Plot to Frame Maharashtra CM Shinde and Deputy CM Fadnavis

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has uncovered a serious criminal conspiracy to falsely implicate Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The investigation, pertaining to a 2016 case registered at Thane Nagar Police Station, resulted in damning findings against high-ranking police officials. Former DGP Rashmi Shukla submitted the report to the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) just five days before her retirement, recommending criminal charges against former Director General of Police Sanjay Pandey, former Deputy Commissioner Laxmikant Patil, and Assistant Commissioner Sardar Patil for orchestrating the trap against the state’s top leadership.

Intensified Conspiracy During Maha Vikas Aghadi Rule

According to the SIT findings, attempts to frame Devendra Fadnavis intensified significantly during the Maha Vikas Aghadi government’s tenure. The conspiracy gained further momentum after Sanjay Pandey’s appointment as Mumbai Police Commissioner and subsequently as Director General of Police, suggesting institutional involvement in the alleged plot. The report’s recommendations indicate serious allegations of abuse of power and misuse of official authority by the accused officers.

Municipal Elections and Mahayuti Campaign Push

Simultaneously, Maharashtra is gearing up for municipal corporation elections on January 15, with vote counting scheduled for January 16. The elections will cover 29 municipal corporations, including major cities like Mumbai, Pune, and Pimpri-Chinchwad. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has intensified the Mahayuti alliance’s campaign, emphasizing development achievements during his two-and-a-half-year tenure and the past year under Fadnavis’s leadership, as the coalition seeks electoral victories in Mumbai and Pune.
