Major Drugs Racket Uncovered in Surat: 10 Arrested

Surat Drugs: In a significant breakthrough, the Surat Crime Branch has dismantled a major drug racket through simultaneous raids at five locations within a single day.

The operation led to the seizure of a substantial quantity of Mephedrone (MD drug) and the arrest of ten individuals involved in the illicit trade.

“No Drugs in Surat City” Campaign:

This crackdown is part of the ongoing “No Drugs in Surat City” campaign, a concerted effort by the Surat Police to combat the rising sale of drugs that endanger the youth of the city.

The latest success underscores the police’s relentless efforts to dismantle drug networks operating within the city.

Initial Tip-Off and Arrests in Surat Drugs Racket:

The operation was set in motion following a tip-off about Rabia Sheikh, a resident of Govandi, Mumbai, who was reportedly transporting a large consignment of MD drugs to Surat.

Acting swiftly on this information, the police apprehended Rabia and her accomplice, Shafiq Khan Pathan, at Surat Railway Station as they disembarked from the Suryanagari train from Mumbai. A subsequent search revealed 250 grams of MD drugs concealed in a school bag among clothing items.

Follow-Up Raids and Further Arrests

Interrogations of the suspects provided leads on additional drug peddlers in Surat. This intelligence prompted the Crime Branch to conduct raids at five different locations:

• Kacha Marina Hotel (Pal Area): Officers arrested Sarfaraz alias Salman in room 404 and seized 28 grams of MD drugs.
• Near Rama Residency (Rander Area): Faisal Allarakha Kachra and Yasin Babul Mulla were detained with 31 grams of drugs.
• Friend’s House of Mohsin Sheikh: During the raid, Asfaq Sheikh attempted to escape by jumping from one building to another but sustained injuries. He was hospitalized, where 14 grams of drugs were found on him.
• Shruti Hospital (Nanpura): Asif Syed alias Babu was arrested with 27 grams of MD drugs.

Total Seizures and Arrests:

The coordinated raids culminated in the seizure of 354.650 grams of MD drugs and 1.930 grams of marijuana. The ten individuals arrested include:

• Rabia Banu from Govandi
• Shafiq Khan Pathan from Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh
• Sarfaraz and Salman from Bharuch
• Faisal Allarakha Kachra
• Yasin Babul
