The Delhi Police detained a guy on Monday for pulling a cab driver for two to three km on the hood of his car on Sunday night in the national capital.

The driver was taken from Delhi’s Ashram Chowk to Nizamuddin Dargah at about 11 p.m., according to officials, according to news agency ANI.

The man, known as Chetan, can be seen hanging from the car’s bonnet in a video posted by ANI.

Chetan, the accused, claims Ramchand Kumar was inebriated. “I worked as a driver and was returning after dropping off a passenger.” When I got close to the Ashram, a car hit my car three times… I got out of my car and stood in front of his. “He then started driving the car; I hung on to the bonnet as he drove from Ashram Chowk to Nizamuddin with me hanging,” Chetan stated to ANI.

“I kept asking him to stop,” he said, “but he didn’t.” He was completely inebriated. On the way, I noticed a PCR (Police Control Room vehicle) standing nearby, and they followed us until he stopped the car.”

Meanwhile, in his defence, the accused stated, “My car didn’t even touch his car…I was driving when he purposefully hopped on the hood of my car.

I told him to get down, but he didn’t listen. I then pulled over to the side of the road and asked him what he was doing.”

According to ANI, the police have filed an FIR against the accused at the Sunlight Colony police station under rash driving and endangering life by negligence.

In a similar event last month, a traffic cop was pulled for approximately a kilometre on the bonnet of a car in Punjab’s Ludhiana. According to officials, the incident occurred after the vehicle allegedly ignored the cop’s stop signal.
