Manoj Bajpayee Replaces Govinda in Bhagam Bhag 2 with Akshay Kumar

Actor Paresh Rawal has officially announced that Manoj Bajpayee will replace Govinda in the highly anticipated sequel Bhagam Bhag 2. The original 2006 comedy paired Akshay Kumar and Govinda in lead roles, but this time, Bajpayee steps into the ensemble. Rawal expressed that while Govinda will be missed, the change promises an exciting new direction for the franchise.

Fresh Pairing Brings Unique Chemistry

Rawal highlighted that the Akshay Kumar-Manoj Bajpayee combination is “different and unique,” noting this marks their first full-fledged comedy collaboration. Bajpayee’s dramatic background is expected to bring a fresh comedic dimension while maintaining the chaotic energy fans loved in the original. This casting choice has generated significant curiosity about how the two established actors will blend their comedic styles. Meenakshi Chaudhary has been cast opposite Akshay Kumar, though Bajpayee’s female co-star is still being finalized.

Double Role and New Direction

Rawal will reprise his role and play a double character, a territory he has successfully explored in multiple past films. Director Raaj Shaandilyaa will helm the sequel with a fresh storyline centered on mistaken identities, comedic errors, and escalating chaos. The new narrative aims to update the original’s spirit for contemporary audiences while retaining its signature humor. Production is scheduled to commence next month in Mumbai, building anticipation for this comedy remake that promises to deliver both nostalgia and innovation to Indian cinema audiences.
