Metro Trains Extended Till Midnight for IPL Matches

To enhance convenience for cricket fans attending the IPL-2025 matches, the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) has announced an extension of metro services on match days. The extended service will run from 10 pm to 12:30 am, providing a smoother travel experience for spectators attending the day-night matches at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium. The metro services, usually operational from 6:20 am to 10 pm, will cater specifically to fans traveling to and from the Motera Stadium Metro Station and Sabarmati Metro Station on select IPL match days: March 25, March 29, April 9, May 2, and May 14.

The extended metro services will be available on both corridors: Motera Stadium to APMC and Vastral Gam to Thaltej Gam, ensuring easy access for spectators to various operational stations. During the extended hours, metro trains will run every 6 minutes, making it more convenient for fans to travel after the late-night matches. A special flat-rate ticket priced at Rs 50 per person has been introduced for the return journey on IPL match days. The last metro train will depart from the Motera Stadium station at 12:30 am, providing ample time for fans to return home after the event.

In addition to the metro service extension, the traffic police have implemented temporary road closures and alternate routes to facilitate smooth traffic movement on match days. The road from Janpath T junction to the Motera Stadium main gate, along with the road from Krupa Residency T junction to the Motera Gam T junction, will be closed for vehicles. These closures are expected to minimize congestion around the stadium and ensure safe and smooth traffic flow during the high-profile matches.

Alternate routes have been designated to accommodate the diverted traffic. These include the Tapovan Circle to ONGC cross roads, Visat T joint to Power House Cross Roads, and Probodh Rawal Circle, among others. These measures are aimed at ensuring minimal disruption for residents and commuters while providing a seamless experience for those attending the IPL matches.
