Michael Hussey Stuns MS Dhoni With Massive Six at 50 in CSK Exhibition Match

The atmosphere at Chepauk was electric as Chennai Super Kings hosted a star-studded exhibition match pitting CSK legends against the current squad. But it was a moment from a 50-year-old batting coach that stole the show. Michael Hussey, affectionately known as Mr Cricket, strode to the crease with MS Dhoni keeping wicket — and promptly launched skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad’s off-spin over extra-cover for a towering six.

Dhoni’s Priceless Reaction Goes Viral

The moment was captured on CSK’s official social media handle, showing Dhoni erupting in laughter behind the stumps. The crowd, packed with fans draped in yellow jerseys, roared in delight. It was a reminder that Hussey, now serving as CSK’s batting coach since 2018, still carries the same attacking instincts that made him a fan favourite during his playing days.

A Legends Lineup to Remember

The former players’ side was a nostalgic treat, featuring Suresh Raina, Matthew Hayden, Murali Vijay, Subramaniam Badrinath, Dwayne Bravo, and Muttiah Muralitharan. Facing them were current squad members including Gaikwad, Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube, Khaleel Ahmed, and Noor Ahmad.

Hussey’s contribution to CSK’s glory years remains significant. He was instrumental in the franchise’s back-to-back IPL titles in 2010 and 2011, scoring 492 runs in 14 matches during the 2011 campaign. In the final against Royal Challengers Bangalore, he struck 63 off 45 balls as CSK won by 58 runs.

The five-time champions now set their sights on IPL 2026, kicking off their campaign against Rajasthan Royals at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium on March 30.
