‘O’ Romeo Struggles at Box Office, Earns Rs 72 Crore in First Week

Shahid Kapoor’s much-anticipated romantic revenge drama ‘O’ Romeo has concluded its opening week on a disappointing note. Directed by celebrated filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj, the film released on February 13, 2026, managed to collect Rs 47.15 crore domestically and Rs 72.25 crore worldwide by the end of its seventh day — numbers that fall well short of expectations for a big-ticket Bollywood release.

A Strong Start That Quickly Faded

The film opened reasonably well, earning Rs 8.5 crore on its first Friday before jumping to Rs 12.65 crore on Saturday. However, collections dropped sharply from Sunday onward. By its first Thursday, the daily earnings had fallen to just Rs 3.15 crore — a steep decline that reflects weak audience hold. The overall Hindi occupancy on February 19 stood at a dismal 8.14%, confirming that footfalls had nearly dried up by the end of the week.

Story Fails to Match Star Power

Despite strong performances from its ensemble cast — which includes Triptii Dimri, Nana Patekar, Avinash Tiwary, Tamannaah Bhatia, Disha Patani, Vikrant Massey, and Farida Jalal — the film’s narrative failed to resonate with audiences. Critics and moviegoers alike praised the acting but pointed to a weak storyline as the primary reason for the underperformance. The film was widely seen as a potential career-reviving vehicle for Shahid Kapoor, making its lukewarm reception all the more significant.

With second-week collections expected to decline further, the film faces an uphill battle to recover its production costs.
