On the occasion of Friday’s 73rd Army Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered good wishes to the Indian Army as well as their family members.
Army Day is celebrated to mark the takeover of the first Commander-in-Chief of our Indian Army, Field Marshal K. M. Cariappa, by General Sir Francis Butcher.
On the occasion of Friday’s 73rd Army Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered good wishes to the Indian Army as well as their family members, claiming that the brave army always kept the head of the country high with pride.
PM Modi in his tweet:
Congratulations to the nation’s mighty heroes who stand on Army Day in support of Mother Bharati as well as their family members. Our military is strong, brave, determined, and it has always made the nation proud. On behalf of all the nations, I salute the Indian Army,” on account of all the countrymen,” PM tweeted.
President Ram Nath Kovind also noted the occasion with such a tweet recalling the soldiers who served the country in their lives.

General Bipin Rawat, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), also expressed his wishes and said that the bravery and sacrifices of the warriors were an example to many. “On the historical Army Day, we pay tribute as well as express our appreciation to those young warriors, whose valour as well as Supreme sacrifice in the line of duty encourages us to rededicate ourselves with renewed vigour.
Further General Bipin Rawat added:
“Your dauntless bravery, infectious enthusiasm as well as unparalleled devotion to duty within true traditions and ideology of the Indian army will strive to motivate upcoming generations, Jai Hind!”
On January 15, each year since 1950, Army Day is celebrated to mark the takeover of the first Commander-in-Chief of our Indian Army, Field Marshal K. M. Cariappa, by General Sir Francis Butcher, the very last British Commander-in-Chief of India.
