Private labs will now report dengue positive cases to the health department
Private pathologies in the state conducting dengue tests will be require to share the results with the health department on a daily basis.
On Saturday, the health department issued directives in this regard.
“Private pathologies will share the results of both rapid and Elisa tests with the administration / health department in their respective districts,” said Dr. AK Singh, director (infectious diseases), UP Health Directorate.
“Although hospitals report dengue cases, many positive dengue patients take medication and rest at home. If all pathologies report positive dengue cases to the health department. We will be able to track and monitor such cases,” said Dr. Abhishek Shukla, prevalent general of the Association of International Doctors.
He stated that all chief medical officers have given instructions to ensure that private labs report. Which government labs already do. “The ELISA test, which is consider a confirmatory test, will be accepted as a positive dengue case. While a confirmatory test for rapid test results will be perform,” he said.
“Rates for rapid and ELISA tests have also been decide at the district level, taking into account the labs’ transportation costs.”
“The rates for sampling at the lab and at home are different, but they are set by the authorities,” Dr Singh explaine.
Till now, the state has reported over 12000 dengue cases, with Lucknow alone reporting 1500. According to doctors, while the majority of dengue patients are recovering at home. Those who become infected with the virus are experiencing high fever and severe joint pain.
