Nick Jonas Opens Up on Daughter Malti’s Future in Showbiz: “It’s Her Choice”
Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra’s daughter, Malti Marie, is already winning hearts on social media, but could she be heading into showbiz at an early age? In a recent interview, the singer-actor opened up about the possibility and how he and Priyanka are approaching their daughter’s future.
Appearing on The Kelly Clarkson Show alongside his The Last Five Years co-star Adrienne Warren, Nick got candid when asked whether he would support his daughter pursuing a career in entertainment. Adrienne spoke about the challenges of starting young in the industry and posed the question directly to Nick: “Would you let yours?”
Nick, 32, revealed that the topic has come up in conversations with Priyanka Chopra. While the couple remains protective of Malti’s privacy, they’ve observed her growing interest in music. “We have talked about it a lot. It’s going to be her choice. We have a three-year-old, and she loves to sing,” Nick said.
Though he acknowledged the beauty of a career in entertainment, Nick also admitted that it’s a daunting thought, especially as a parent. “It’s also scary as a parent to think about all the things that I went through, my wife has gone through in her career. Your one job in life is to protect your kids, but it’s also to let them fly and live their life,” he shared.
Nick added a lighthearted moment to the conversation, saying Malti doesn’t seem interested in sports just yet. “She’s not into soccer, though. We tried to take her to soccer practice, she wasn’t having it,” he joked. “But she’s singing a ton and I’m like, ‘Uh-oh.’”
The couple, who tied the knot in a grand celebration in 2018, welcomed Malti Marie via surrogacy in January 2022. Since then, they’ve offered fans occasional glimpses of their daughter while maintaining a careful boundary around her public exposure.
Nick also reflected on his own upbringing and how his parents supported him and his brothers when they started their careers. “I’m so grateful to my parents for letting us take big risks and chances. They did a great job of balancing that support but also being a little scared at times,” he said.
Meanwhile, Nick is currently starring in the Broadway revival of The Last Five Years, a musical that explores a complex relationship from two perspectives—his character’s story unfolds chronologically, while Adrienne Warren’s unfolds in reverse.
Whether Malti follows in her famous parents’ footsteps or chooses a different path, one thing is clear: Nick and Priyanka are committed to letting her find her own way—while cheering her on every step of the journey.
