Read Asaduddin Owaisi reaction on RJD coffin Tweet

The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) should have associated the new Parliament building with something other than a coffin, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi remarked on Sunday, after uproar over the Lalu Prasad Yadav-led party’s Twitter tweet.

“…the old (Parliament) building lacked clearance from the Delhi Fire Services (DFS).” Once upon a time, a commotion occurred when something dropped on the late Mulayam Singh Yadav while eating at his party office in the old building. Now, why should this be associated with a coffin? “You could have called it something else,” Owaisi added, as the news agency ANI quoted.

The RJD displayed two side-by-side photographs in the tweet, which was sent as the inaugural event occurred. The image on the left was of a coffin, while the one on the right was of the new Parliament building.

The ruling BJP lashed out at the RJD, saying the tweet would be the “final nail” in the Bihar party’s “coffin.” However, RJD spokesperson Shakti Yadav defended the party, claiming that the tweet represented democracy being ‘buried.’

The reference to the ‘burial’ of democracy was in response to the opposition’s claim that, as the head of state, President Droupadi Murmu, rather than Prime Minister Narendra Modi, should have inaugurated the facility. Otherwise, it would be a murder of democracy. Eventually, as many as 21 opposition parties, including the RJD and AIMIM, decided to boycott the ceremony on Sunday.
