Record SIP Flows in December 2025

Record SIP Flows in December 2025

Key Highlights

  • Monthly inflows: Rose to a record ₹31,002 crore in December, up from ₹29,445 crore in November.
  • SIP AUM: Climbed to ₹16.63 lakh crore, accounting for 20.7% of the mutual fund industry’s total assets.
  • Contributing accounts: Increased to 9.79 crore in December, compared with 9.43 crore in November, showing steady retail participation.

New Registrations vs Closures

  • New SIPs registered: 60.46 lakh in December (vs 57.13 lakh in November).
  • SIPs discontinued/matured: 51.57 lakh in December (vs ~43 lakh in November).
  • Headline stoppage ratio: Rose to 85% in December, up from 75.56% in November.

AMFI Clarification

  • Of the 51.57 lakh closures in December:
    • 33 lakh were true discontinuations.
    • 18.6 lakh were maturities.
  • Adjusted stoppage ratio (excluding maturities): ~55%, offering a more accurate picture of churn.
  • AMFI has not provided a similar break‑up for November.

Outlook

The data reflects both robust inflows and healthy new registrations, alongside a high churn rate. The adjusted stoppage ratio suggests that while discontinuations remain significant, a large portion of closures are due to planned maturities, not investor withdrawals. This underscores the resilience of SIPs as a retail investment vehicle, even amid rising volatility.
