Renuka Chowdhury to file defamation case against PM Modi over ‘Surpanakha’ comment

Renuka Chowdhury to file defamation case against PM Modi over ‘Surpanakha’ comment

Renuka Chowdhury, the congress leader, says that she is going to register a defamation case against the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, for the ‘Surpanakha’ comment he made in 2018 in Parliament.

The former Union minister shared the old clip in her Tweet, in which we can see PM Narendra Modi asking the chairman of Rajya Sabha to let Renuka Ji continue as such laughter listened to days after the Ramayana serial used to be telecast.

She states in her tweet, This classless megalonaniac referred to me as Surpanakha on the floor of the house. I will file a defamation case against him. Let’s see how fast courts will act now..

After Rahul Gandhi was found guilty of defamation on Thursday for stating, “How come all thieves have Modi surname,” Renuka Chowdhury made the following statement.

Rahul Gandhi was given a 2-year prison sentence, suspended for 30 days, and must now file an appeal against the court’s decision.

Social media users informed the Congress leader that PM Modi did not use the name Surpankha and that she cannot move to the court based solely on a remark made in Parliament.

“Rahul Gandhi chose not to apologize for his efforts to combat corruption.” He refused to apologize for resisting fascism. Renuka Chowdhury tweeted, “He chose not to apologize for speaking the truth.”

The Surat court ruling has sparked various concerns and condemnations from opposition leaders, who have accused the government of stifling opposition politicians’ voices through agencies such as the ED and CBI and through FIRs and defamation charges.

On Friday, the Congress will stage a protest march from Parliament to Vijay Chowk. A meeting with other opposition politicians is also planned since some non-Congress chief ministers and opposition leaders have spoken out against the verdict and backed Rahul Gandhi.
