During the second ODI between India and South Africa at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur on Wednesday, an animated Rohit Sharma called out young pacers Prasidh Krishna and Harshit Rana during the 37th over of South Africa’s chase. The former captain was visibly displeased with their bowling lines and lengths, stopping Krishna on his mark and gesturing intensely as he lectured both bowlers on how to restrict the opposition from scoring easy boundaries.

Krishna’s Struggles Continue Despite Guidance

Despite Rohit’s intervention and guidance, Krishna’s over still conceded 16 runs, bringing his match figures to 64 runs in six overs for just one wicket. The pacer also bowled a beamer when the dew-soaked ball slipped from his hand, highlighting the consistency issues that frustrated the Indian captain.

India’s Strong Batting Effort Falls Short

Earlier, India posted a formidable 358 for five, led by Virat Kohli’s century (102), Ruturaj Gaikwad’s maiden ODI hundred (105), and KL Rahul’s unbeaten 66. Kohli and Gaikwad’s 195-run partnership set a new record for India’s highest third-wicket stand against South Africa in ODIs. However, South Africa mounted a strong chase with opener Aiden Markram scoring 110, while young guns Breetzke (68) and Dewald Brevis (54 off 34 balls, with five sixes) kept the momentum alive. South Africa ultimately pulled off their highest chase away from home to level the series.
