Samantha Ruth Prabhu discusses her myositis; learn more about the autoimmune condition

According to the actor, the doctors are confident that I will recover completely very soon.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu has revealed that she was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, which she had hoped to share after going into remission, but that it is “taking a little longer than I hoped.” The Family Guy star took to Instagram to share a photo of herself with an IV drip in her hand.

She expressed her appreciation for all the love that has pour in since the release of her new film Yashodha’s trailer, saying, “It is this love and association that I share with all of you that give me the strength to deal with the seemingly never-ending challenges that life throws at me.” I was recently diagnose with myositis, an autoimmune condition. I was hoping to share this once it was in remission. However, it is taking a little longer than I had expected.”

She said she is “slowly realizing” that we don’t always need to put on a brave face.

“Accepting my vulnerability is something I’m still working on.” The doctors are confident that I will recover completely very soon. I’ve had good and bad days…. physically and emotionally…. and even when I feel like I can’t take another day like this, that moment passes.

What exactly is myositis?

Myositis is cause by muscle inflammation, according to WebMD. According to the Indian Journal of Rheumatology, the prevalence of this condition is approximately 4-22 cases per one lakh people.

Causes

“In most cases, the exact cause of myositis is unknown, so it is classified as idiopathic,” said Garima Goyal, a registered dietitian and diabetes educator.

Symptoms

Muscle pain and soreness, fatigue, difficulty swallowing, and difficulty breathing are all possible symptoms.

“It usually affects the muscles of the arms, shoulders, legs, hips, abdomen, and spine.” It may affect the muscles of the oesophagus (food pipe), diaphragm, and eyes in advanced stages. “Patients usually have difficulty standing up after sitting, climbing stairs, and lifting objects,” said Dr. Santosh Kumar Agrawal, Senior consultant of Internal Medicine at Marengo QRG Hospital in Faridabad.
