Shankar Chaudhary elected unopposed to Banas Dairy Board along with five others

Shankar Chaudhary: According to a message by Banaskantha Collector Mihir Patel, they got 50 forms for all constituencies for the board of directors’ elections.

Uncontested Elections Across Six Constituencies

In a smooth electoral process, Gujarat Assembly Speaker and Radhanpur MLA Shankar Chaudhary, along with five others, was elected unopposed to the Board of Directors of Banas Dairy on Monday. The deadline for filing nominations closed the same day, with only one valid nomination submitted for each of the six constituencies.

The uncontested constituencies include Radhanpur, Amirgadh, Suigam, Deesa, Tharad, and Bhabhar, ensuring that the candidates were declared elected without the need for polling.

New Members of the Board

Alongside Mr. Chaudhary from Radhanpur, the following representatives secured their seats unopposed:

  • Bhavabhai Rabari from Amirgadh
  • Muljibhai Patel from Suigam
  • Kamlaben Desai from Deesa
  • Parbatbhai Patel from Tharad
  • Ambaben Chaudhary from Bhabhar

These members will now be part of the governing body of Banas Dairy, one of India’s largest dairy cooperatives and a key driver of the region’s rural economy.

Nomination and Election Details

According to Banaskantha Collector Mihir Patel, authorities received a total of 50 nomination forms for the six constituencies. However, with only one nomination found valid in each, the candidates were declared elected unopposed.

The election for the remaining Board of Directors is scheduled for October 10, while the last date for withdrawal of nominations is September 29. The elections are being conducted after the five-year term of the current board came to an end.

Significance for Banas Dairy

Banas Dairy, headquartered in Banaskantha, plays a crucial role in Gujarat’s cooperative dairy sector, with millions of litres of milk procured daily and supplied under the Amul brand. The election of senior leaders like Shankar Chaudhary, who also serves as Chairman of Banas Dairy, is expected to strengthen the cooperative’s leadership and ensure continuity in its policies.

Observers note that the smooth, uncontested elections reflect both the organisational discipline within the cooperative and the influence of strong regional leaders guiding the dairy’s future direction.
