Sonakshi Sinha has spoken about her father, actor Shatrughan Sinha, reacting to her part as a cop in the upcoming series Dahaad. 

Sonakshi said in a new interview that Shatrughan Sinha would tell his classmates as a child that his daughter would become a police officer. She said that Shatrughan is “very excited to watch the show.”

Sonakshi has a strong affinity for police outfits. She debuted in Dabangg (2010), playing a cop opposite Salman Khan. 

She also appeared in Rowdy Rathore (2012) opposite Akshay Kumar, who played a police officer. The actor has now worn a police uniform for her first OTT series, Dahaad.

In an interview with ANI, Sonakshi stated, “I was looking for a powerful character for a long time.” It’s a pretty interesting character. There are also amusing components. After a long time, I finally got to play a significant role. 

Abhi toh dil dahaad dahaad kar raha hai… Dil dhadak raha hai. Par excitement mein. (My heartbeat quickens due to excitement) This is also my 1st time on the OTT platform. For the first time, the viewers will see me in a long-form series.”

While talking about her father’s reaction, she says, “Papa bohat khush hai. (Papa is overjoyed). Papa used to tell his friends when I was a kid, “My daughter would be a police officer.” 

So, after donning the outfit, I texted him the first photo, telling him, ‘I have fulfilled your wishes…’ He is quite excited to see the show.” Sonakshi has learned to ride a bike, judo, and do action stunts for the drama.

Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar are the creators of Dahaad. Reema and Ruchika Oberoi directed the film. Gulshan Devaiah and Sohum Shah also play important roles in the show. Dahaad will be available on Prime Video beginning May 12, 2023.

Sonakshi will play the part of a police officer on the trial of a serial killer in the series. She will attempt to solve a case where women are found deceased in public restrooms.
