The police have arrested two people concerning the murder of Sonali Phogat.

A day after security camera footage showed actor and BJP leader Sonali Phogat staggering out of a Goa nightclub on her way out, hours before she was declared dead, a new video has emerged showing her being forced to drink on the dance floor.

The man in the video see to be Sudhir Sangwan. One of her two associates detained while police investigate the murder. He was also seen in the other video released a day ago, assisting her out of the club Curlie’s.

When police said they had a video of Sudhir Sangwan forcing Sonali Phogat to drink “some substance. They referred to this clip. According to them, the associates took her to the Grand Leonny hotel, where they were all staying, before she died.

“The Investigating Officer examined CCTV recordings of relevant premises and discovered that Sudhir was forcing Sonali to drink the alleged liquid in a water bottle,” a police statement said.

On Friday, police said that determining the cause “would take some time… only after chemical examination of viscera” and other tests. According to the family’s request, the viscera would be examined at a state facility in Chandigarh and Goa.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said on Thursday that he is willing to turn over the lawsuit to the Central Bureau of Investigation. Sonali Phogat’s family has also accused her of rape, but police have not yet filed charges, pending further investigation.
