Sunita Ahuja Urges Govinda to Return to Films, Says He’s ‘Ruining His Life’ at Home

Actor Govinda’s wife, Sunita Ahuja, has expressed her concerns about her husband’s prolonged absence from the film industry, urging him to return to acting. In a candid interview, Sunita stated that Govinda is wasting his immense talent by staying away from the screen, and blamed bad company and outdated choices for his long break.

Govinda, who was a dominant figure in the 90s Bollywood scene, is fondly remembered for his iconic performances in films like Coolie No.1, Hero No.1, and Raja Babu. However, his career saw a decline post-2008, and despite attempts to revive it with supporting roles in films like Raavan and Kill Dil, Govinda has remained largely absent from major projects. His last film appearance was in the 2019 movie Rangeela Raja, which did not perform well at the box office.

In her interview, Sunita said that she continually urges Govinda to return to films, emphasizing that he is a legendary actor who should not be wasting his time at home. “I always tell Govinda that you are a legend star, aap 90s ke raaja the (you were the king of the 90s). Today’s generation dances to your songs. I keep asking him to have better company,” she told Zoom. Sunita further pointed out that actors of his age, such as Anil Kapoor, Suniel Shetty, and Jackie Shroff, continue to work, and questioned why Govinda, too, isn’t making a comeback.

She also revealed that their children miss seeing their father on the big screen. Sunita criticized the people around Govinda, saying they aren’t giving him the right advice. “The company and friends you are hanging out with are not saying what’s good for you. They always say yes to everything you say, but they don’t mean well for you,” she remarked. Sunita urged Govinda’s so-called friends to show him the right path, especially since he has helped them financially in the past.

Sunita added that Govinda needs to evolve with the times. She emphasized that the 90s style of movies is no longer relevant, and that Govinda should consider taking up projects that suit today’s audience. She also suggested he make efforts to stay in shape and look his best. “Why are you ruining his life for little money?” she said, expressing her frustration. Sunita believes that if Govinda chooses good films and works with quality directors, he can make a successful comeback.
