After the sad demise of Sushant Singh Rajput due to suicide on June 14, all over the entertainment industry and social media, the debate of favoritism and nepotism has been reignited in Bollywood. The flag-bearer of nepotism in the industry, filmmaker Karan Johar, came under the direct radar of the furious fans. The fans lashed out their emotions on the highly successful producer-director & owner of Dharma Productions, and accused him of playing a role in SSR’s depression and the eventual suicide. The netizens have vehemently protested and campaigns are being run to boycott the director and his films. However, recently, Swara Bhasker provided her support to Johar and came out to defend him. On her Twitter, Swara said that despite coming under the bad lens of people and being part of these rigorous media-trials, the director should be given credit for not removing the nepotism remarks from his chat show, Koffee with Karan, which he could have easily done.

Swara Bhasker was questioned by the Twitterati for choosing to support the director, to which the actress replied by saying that it was right and fair to give credit where it is due and that she has no films in the pipeline with Johar.
The nepotism debate is surely reignited after the death of an outsider in the industry and many other actors, directors, and artists have come out to speak against the discrimination and favoritism they have faced in the industry.
