At a Chinese event, Xiaomi unveiled its latest flagship, the Xiaomi 12S. The Xiaomi 12S Ultra is the primary flagship device this time. This smartphone is also the true successor to the previous Mi 11 Ultra. Xiaomi uses a new Sony IMX989 sensor, one inch in size, for the phone’s massive camera module.
The design also pays homage to Xiaomi’s collaboration with Leica, the German camera manufacturer. However, according to the company, the 12S series will remain limited to the Chinese market. Android Central first reported this, and Xiaomi PR teams confirmed it.
It’s surprising, as Xiaomi also streamed the event on its global YouTube channel. For the time start, all we know is that the 12S Ultra will most likely not be available in India or other markets. However, this is still a chance that the Xiaomi 12S Ultra will be released in other markets under a different name or number line.
What’re new specifications, and features on the Xiaomi 12S Ultra
The Xiaomi 12S has a leather-like back, which the company claims are more durable than traditional leather. The company is releasing this in two color options: Classic Black and Verdant Green. The phone has a 6.73-inch AMOLED display that supports Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and HDR 10.
This is a 2K (3200 x 1400 resolution) display with 522 PPI. The maximum refresh rate is 120 Hz, and because this is an LTPO 2.0 (Low-temperature polycrystalline oxide) show, it can automatically switch from 1Hz to 120Hz. This is also supposed to improve battery life.
